Data-Based Decision Making

A defining feature of PBIS is continuous improvement driven by data. Teams collect and analyze data to diagnose problems or gaps and select strategies to address these challenges. Data tell us which strategies are most effective so we continue to include them in our repertoire.
Data are an active, dynamic part of decision-making in the classroom that allow educators to identify patterns of strengths and needs. Those patterns drive decision making to continue, adopt, or modify classroom PBIS practices and systems. Data refer to objective (specific, observable, measurable) information about students, educators, or schools.

DATAQUEST

DataQuest is the California Department of Education’s web-based data reporting system for publicly reporting information about California students, teachers, and schools. DataQuest provides access to a wide variety of reports, including school performance, test results, student enrollment, English learner, graduation and dropout, school staffing, course enrollment, and student misconduct data.

CA Dashboard is California's new accountability and continuous improvement system provides information about how local educational agencies and schools are meeting the needs of California's diverse student population based on a concise set of measures.
